Caleb Muhs was born and raised in Grand Island and was the first in his family to attend college. He met his wonderful wife Julie at Georgetown University, where he graduated with a degree in finance. After graduation, Caleb went to work for the FBI as an analyst in Counter-Terrorism in both New York City and Washington, D.C. He earned his law degree from Fordham University several years later, then pursued his lifelong dream of joining the United States Marine Corps.

He learned while attending Officer Candidate School that a health condition would prevent his service to his country.

After leaving Officer Candidate School, he volunteered at the Hudson County Public Defender’s Office in New Jersey, where he worked on adult and juvenile criminal cases and witnessed first-hand the results of failed policies and a broken criminal justice system.

Disillusioned by a broken system and longing to return home, Caleb joined an insurance company as a financial analyst and worked his way up to serve as Chief Financial Officer of a subsidiary. He and Julie have five children, and decided to move back home to Nebraska because the culture, values, and people can’t be beat anywhere else in the country. Caleb now works as a financial consultant.

Now, inspired by his experiences and in a position to serve, Caleb Muhs wants to use his unique experience in criminal justice, law, and finance to make Nebraska the best place in America to live, work, and raise a family.
